3D Video Game
xBlocks is a cross between interactive art and 3D gaming. This piece, on display currently at Fabbrica del Vapore in Milan, resembles a post-modernism sculpture. Its functionality, however, is more like Super Mario Bros.
Using standard game controllers, two opposing players must help their characters navigate in and around a three dimensional maze. The real challenge comes, not from traditional game mechanics but rather from moving with your character as he sprints around corners and jumps between the installation’s two play surfaces.
In the future, I’m quite sure that all art is inspired by video games. This is simply the first step.

This vaguely reminds me of a Wired article I read recently about a real-life role-playing game called La Fuga. And by “real-life”, I mean you physically run around inside an old building solving puzzles and such. Yeah, just check it out: http://www.wired.com/wired/archive/14.03/lafuga.html.
@Jason
Wow, that is awesome. I would love to play that sometime. I would 0wnz.
Hey, thanks for the write up! If you want to know more about the xBlocks project and see what we’ve done with it since last April, have a look at our site (http://www.xblocks-game.com). We’ve also got some more videos up on YouTube too:
