I Want “Back to The Future 2″ Shoes!

Filed under: misc geekery — leadingzero

Do you remember “Back to The Future 2″? Do you remember when Doc and Marty go to the future, but then Old Biff steals the time machine from them to go back and change the past? Well there is something that has always bothered me about that. You see, Biff went from 2015 to 1955 and altered the course of time by giving Young Biff the sports almanac. Young Biff then wreaks havoc by making a million bucks and ruining Hill Valley. However, after Old Biff gives his younger self the sports almanac he then uses the time machine to go back to the future from where he stole it and gives the car back to Doc and Marty. BUT, we all know that this couldn’t have really happened, don’t we? Because by giving Young Biff the almanac, he drastically changed the course of time so that the time from which he stole the time machine, wouldn’t exist anyway would it?

Sorry for the long rant but that always really bothered me. However, for Al Cabino there was something else that bothered him. He wanted his own pair of those sweet kicks that Marty wore in the future. In fact, he wanted them so badly that he made an online petition about it that he hopes will one day sway Nike into mass producing the things for consumer use. Crazy? Not at all. I mean, I’d buy some. What’s crazy is that giant plot hole about Biff in the time machine, but whatev…

The Wheelman - Motor / Skateboard Hybrid

Filed under: tech news — leadingzero

The Wheelman is a new type of motorized skateboard that can go virtually anywhere. The device consists two spokeless wheels and a 43cc 2 stroke engine. The Wheelman holds enough gas to get an hour and a half of demo footage for all the informercials they will be needing to sell these things. Actually, I would love to try one out but $1,500.00 USD is a bit pricey.

The learning curve of a Wheelman is very similar to skate/snow/surf board riding. And if you have any experience in these you will be surprised on how fast you pick it up.

At speed you use body movement to steer and at low speed (and you can ride a Wheelman at an extremely slow pace) you can angle the front wheel from side to side with your foot.

The speed is controlled by a pneumatic ball held in your hand, the more you squeeze, the more fun you have! To stop, all you need to do is stop squeezing the ball. The vehicle will slow quickly but smoothly, then you angle the toes of your rear foot toward the ground until the pads come into contact, the harder you push the faster you stop. The vehicle remains quite stable and minimises the risk of being thrown over the front.

Soundbomb: Non-Visual Graffiti

This cool little gadget is called a Soundbomb. It serves as a portable non-visual graffiti device for blasting your message without you having to actually to the blasting. Armed with a recording mechanism and a motion detector, it will blare anything you put on it when an unsuspecting victim draws near. It’s handy for applications such as a welcoming greeting or a warning at a bad restaurant.

The Soundbomb would be a great audio companion to the LED Throwie; dazzle the eyes and the ears with unique homebrew technology. However, bring one of these guys into an airport and I can’t imagine the amount of trouble you would have on your hands.
