ROV for Underwater Exploration

Jason sent in this massive ‘howto’ article on his current project that is actually still being completed. His project is a very detailed Remote Operated Vehicle, or ROV, used for underwater exploration.
“I was shocked at the price tag for the commercial [ROV’s] so I started building my own. I started out with some predefined goals for myself, it had to be made from mostly off the shelf parts, limiting tools needed. It needed to be under 300$ and have most if not all the functions that the real ROV’s had.”
He has done alot of great work on this and I hope that one day he will have it perfected as he already has a really complex system of navigation controls and electronic sensors. Check out the brief clip below to see his current progress and to get an idea of how the navigation works.
