iBar - Intelligent Surface System

This beautiful piece of technology is a fully interactive bar-counter that has multi-input touchscreen capabilities. The functions of this device can range from “connectifity”, where all guests at the counter are connected through dynamic luminous lines, to “iBar Pong”, where a virtual ball is bounced across the counter and allowed to interact with various objects. This is simply brilliant. However, the obligatory newage music is not included.

iBar is a system for the interactive design of any bar-counter. Integrated video-projectors can project any content on the milky bar-surface. The intelligent tracking system of iBar detects all objects touching the surface. This input is used to let the projected content interact dynamically with the movements on the counter. Objects can be illuminated at their position or virtual objects can be “touched” with the fingers.

  1. That is mad cool… =]

  2. Wonder what happens when you spill drinks on it .

  3. It’s fake, somewhat.
1st off, touch screens currently do not have multi-input capabilities.
Secondly, there are many moments when the screen lights up when nothing is touching it, but something is nearby.
I don’t know what type of interaction it has, but it isn’t touch screen, and because of this, it probably isn’t cheap. It needs to be developed more, though, because when most contact is close to it, it things there are more existing objects than there actually are.

  4. you’re wrong. they do have multi input touch capabilities. search around a little bit and you’ll find a neat little screen where a guy is using a picture program to resize and do a bunch of funky stuff with it using multi input touch.

real or not, looks amazingly cool. might as well drink to this, eh?

  6. you can probably tell its not fake by how the light is in contact with peoples hands and arms when they touch the touch screen, looks pretty real to me.

  7. didnt see the virtual ping-pong going in the video. would have been good to see a ball of light bouncing off the sides, and bouncing off glasses, elbows, etc

That is really awesome. That looks like it can be use in more than one way than just something like that, as I realized it’s intelligent. It connected to edges and mad vertices. I’d like to see a multi-layered system that can represent 3D objects in real time. That would be amazing for prototyping! I’ll have to look more into this technology and see whether I could do this myself ;) .

  9. What’s really the point of this technology. Is it just sappost to be cool or somthing

It is real!!!!!!! Ive just order a bespoke one as my kitchen worktop

  11. Unique Custom Design Resources…

I couldn’t understand some parts of this article, but it sounds interesting…
