Filed under: NES, fun, t-shirts — leadingzero

The Mario themed tube shirts have finally arrived. Thanks to all the zerosign readers that pre-ordered and to the many more that supplied helpful comments. The great guys at Mammoth Printshop totally delivered on these quality shirts. If I ever feel the need to put another idea on a t-shirt, I’ll definitely be using them again. Also, to whoever is interested, I still have a few handfulls of shirts left. No more pre-orders; these babies are here and waiting to be shipped out. Again thanks to all the ones that already ordered one; your shirt is in the mail now.

Space Invaders 2006

Filed under: misc geekery, fun — leadingzero

So this is what trendy NYU students do when they get bored. This project, perhaps inspired by the world’s largest Tetris game, combines alternate reality technology with public art as the classic arcade game Space Invaders is played out on the side of a building. Projected from the street below, alien space ships stroll across the building while the player uses his own body to interact with the game. Mix this public retro gaming with some techno music and the hipster experience is complete.

DIY Flash Drive Modding

Filed under: how to, fun — leadingzero

FreshlySqueezedFlash is a cool new site that is devoted to modding and decorating USB Flash Drives. The site currently has a few tutorials on flash drive modding and also a store section where the lazy can purchase their own modified flash drives and not be left out of all the fun. A site that is devoted to modifying flash drives is just such an interesting niche, it had to be posted here. Check out the site and look out for the next flash drive mod tutorial.

‘Another World’ Rerelease

Filed under: NES, fun — leadingzero

Recently, a great thing has happened. The classic video game Another World (or Out of This World as I knew it on the SNES) has been redesigned by the original creator to take full advanage of today’s graphics. I believe the gameplay should be the same as the original but I’m currently downloading the demo so we’ll see soon. I’m just really pumped. This game had some of the most unique playability ever at the time of its release. It has an extremely clever story-line and requires the player to actually use his head. Check out the old and revised screenshots below to see the progress that game has made. If the demo looks good, I will be sure to buy the full version (about $10 I think).
